When I originally entered art school, the idea of sculpting for a living never, ever crossed my mind. I had originally hoped to become an illustrator and work for gaming magazines.

Instead, I was told by a professor to quit drawing and never return to school.

Do you know what I did? I did just that. For over two years, I quit art and dropped out of school. I shamefully hid my drawings and never once thought that I would ever be able to live as an artist. But I needed an outlet for art. I couldn't draw anymore, but, maybe, I could do something else.

For a while, I found respite in sculpture. Creating small charms and figurines brought joy into my life and helped to scratch that illustration itch a bit. Under the prior studio name, Milkcannon Charms, I completed 7 successful years of conventions. I gave panels, started attending cons as a guest, and met so many wonderful people in the process.

Still, illustration is what inspires me. Comics, games, enamel pins--I love them all! So, finally, after far too long I'm focusing on what I love and what I do best. Spice & Rose is reflective of who I am as a person and my personal style--sweet, cozy, timeless, and a bit spicy.
